Necklace with letter okay to send with one postage stamp?

Hi. I'm sending a letter along with a necklace to a friend of mine and I found out that the weight of the envelope cannot not exceed 1 oz. Do you think that a small necklace and a letter would exceed that weight? And if you do think that it would, could you guide me on what to do if it does exceed 1 oz?
