Liquids in a carry on?

Okay, so I'm going to be traveling on a 10-hour flight for the first time. I need to bring Vaseline (for my lip rash) in my carry on. The Vaseline is 1.75 oz. I know that the rule is that all liquids must be under around 3.4 oz and it must be in a clear, 1 quart sized ziplock bag. Do i have to take out my Vaseline and show it to them when they are about to x-ray my carry on? Or do i just leave it in there and say nothing?
